We present a special edition of the Wrocław Yearbook of Oral History – a magazine, which over the last eight years has become a staple for researchers and practitioners of oral history, deeply rooted in various disciplines of the humanities.By publishing the results of the latest and most recent Polish studies in oral history, theoretical transpharm online shopping and practical debates on the methodologies, news from around the world and – what is particularly valuable – scientific accounts of oral history, as well as by participating in numerous debates, including those organised on the forum of the Polish Oral History Association, we noticed the great need to disseminate some scientific papers, known to “Western” oralists and considered by many to be key for various aspects of oral history, in the Polish language. This resulted in our enthusiastic response to the initiative of Dr Dobrochna Kałwa from the Institute of History of the University of Warsaw and Dr Piotr Filipkowski from the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences to prepare such a publication, since we recognised that the pages of the Wrocław Yearbook of Oral here History would be the most appropriate venue for such a publication.Just like the scientific editors of this volume, we are well aware of the fact that the selection of translations presented here is but the tip of the iceberg of the vast body of Western scientific literature on oral history.

However, taking an in-depth look at this material will certainly contribute to broadening the research horizons of present and future Polish practitioners and theoreticians of oral history.
